An interesting base this Spencer County, Indiana, Early Archaic knapper designed--maybe it'd be more accurate to say the grain of the Indiana Hornstone forced the base--I think what you see in the close up photo of the base is (was) the outer edge of the bifacial preform--the knapper made a great blade and barbs, but "finish out" of the stem, well, he ran short of workable flint...kind of like painting a "for sale" sign and having room for "For sal " at the far side of the board. It happens. A lot of points we call "snap base" are like that. Here, the Knobbed Hardin measures 3&1/2" by 1&9/16". $8.00 shipping, checks or money orders welcomed, but I do not use paypal-type electronic payments. If the symmetry of that blade doesn't impress, I have nothing more to add than a "Best of the Holidays" to all--Roy, Jo, and family
