75146--Creekfound Kentucky Waubesa--Jasper
A creek find from the Henderson, Kentucky, area--not recorded which particular county, but in the Henderson area. The material is a brownish-orange color, a couple spots of the weathered cortex show what the piece of Jasper once looked like. Length is 2&15/16" from the angle-made stem (it's NOT a snap base) to the needle tip; width is 1&3/8", 5/16" max thickness. The very end of one brb is an ancient use-made ding, patinated. The slightly 'mottled color' of the Jasper resembles a brown Ft. Payne Chert. Mineral deposits show, particularly near the tip--you can spot the green where creek algae had covered the piece. It doesn't appear the blade was ever cleaned--nor would I, the patina shows the environment the 'arrowhead' has been in the last couple thousand years--it's simply REAL.
