Lack of ANY basal grinding, even though the stem LOOKS like a Hardin, it isn't. There are several different Hopewell variations in Illinois (point is from St. Claire County, western Illinois) that come to mind, Gibsons, Heltons, and Grand Points...Lowe Flared/ Bakers Creek are the names you see attached as you move into Indiana or Kentucky--and probably a couple I've forgotten to mention--somewhere in that Hopewell Cluster of points, there's a pretty close match for the stem/ blade style. The edges were done with decent pressure chipping, but the body of the point shows larger, percussion chipping--wide, large flakes--Woodland work, not Early Archaic-type knapping. Length is 2&11/16" by 1&1/8", 3/8" max thickness near the upper blade (longer as it was first made, I expect). You see the last trace of an impact fracture along one blade edge, the Woodland knapper made a salvage "repair"--all old, patinated, authentic work. The flint is like a light gray version of Mozarkite, multiple bandings in the color--first piece of this material I've had in my collection--hopefully not the last--good flint.
